PRESS REVIEWS
“The greatest discovery was the arrival of the young actor, author and director, Carlos Gallegos.  It was apparent, with his clean, almost expressionistic, gestures that the actor, who is anchored to a chair, feels all the pain of his country”.
L’HUMANITE (France)

“We found in Carlos Gallegos and educator, playwright, theater director, and, above all, an actor—a magnificent actor in defense of Barrio, in a show based entirely on the work of interpretation”.
Norka Chiapusso ARTEZ (Spain)

“Melancholic humor that harkens back to Charlie Chaplin, with a wink to the ‘poor theatre’ of Grotowski, and constant nods to the absurdities of Beckett”.
KIELER NACHRICHTEN (Germany)

"The public was overwhelmed by the true poetry of Carlos Gallegos show. Bravo! Gallegos is simply magnificent and moving in these two very different works (Quarter Kaleidoscope and SoloSoloSolo)".
FREQUENCE MISTRAL (France)

“A gem of intellectual finesse and gestural precision…It’s all about the incredible accuracy of Gallegos’ interpretation.  A great lesson in theater”.
LE CLOU DANS LA PLANCHE (France)

“The splendid work of Carlos Gallegos in Quarter Kaleidoscope brings us to the crannies in the mind of a paranoid: Alfonsito. This Ecuadorian playwright-director-actor puts forth his enormous talents in a stage which is reduced to a chair".
Jaime Chabaud Magnus MILENIO NEWSPAPER (Mexico)

“Performed with virtuosity, supported with elements of mime, a full range of emotions combining energy, burlesque and poetry”.
MIDI LIBRE (France)

“Gallegos shows a mastery of his trade like few others”.
CONTINENTE Magazine (Brazil)

“Carlos Gallegos set the bar high with these two works (Quarter Kaleidoscope and SoloSoloSolo) but when audiences see the result on the stage, they’ll say that the two objectives were more than met”.
HAUT PROVENCE INFO (France)

“Barrio Kaleidoscope, written and directed by the Ecuadorian artist, leaves one with the feeling that one has discovered a great theatrical creator.  He illuminated the stage with his body language although he does move from his chair.  His character is glorious and filled with vitality”.
Carlos Gil Zamora ARTEZ (Spain)

“Carlos Gallegos, alone on stage, is a true Ecuadorian Funes Louis.  He knows how to mix the accuracy of virtuosity with the madness of unbridled inspiration.  It’s not a work to be missed”.
Festival TRANSLATINES (France)

“The crowd returned his generosity with very extensive applause, many of them standing up in an emotional tribute to this consummate actor”.
Genoveva Mora EL APUNTADOR (Ecuador)

“Barrio Kaleidoscope is amazing because its author, actor, and director Carlos “Cacho” Gallegos dazzles with his work on stage.  To truly appreciate, you must just get a seat and feel the pleasure of seeing this work”.
EL COMERCIO NEWSPAPER (Ecuador)
SYNOPSIS
Alfonsito awakes with the intention of going to the store and buying a loaf of bread or two.  To achieve this, he must face his multiple and extravagant fears, pretend to be like the others (like the “normal” people), and abandon his meticulously organized but dusty house.  He must quickly pass through the empty street avoiding the cynical jokes of his cronies, the melancholy of the street sweepers, and the meeting with his compatriot, Magalita the Machiavellian.  But above all, he must avoid the pounding of his heart each time he receives his bread bag.
